Abstract
AGUIRRE GARCIA, Juan Carlos and JARAMILLO ECHEVERRI, Luis Guillermo. EL OTRO EN LÉVINAS: Una salida a la encrucijada sujeto-objeto y su pertinencia en las ciencias sociales. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2006, vol.4, n.2, pp.47-71. ISSN 1692-715X.
For Lévinas, the relationship with the Other does not refer to a previous ontology but breaks the totalizing and totalitarian "enclosure" from the formal and naïve look that tries to capture theoretical categories that "imprecisely" predict their dwelling in the world; it is the original transition based on experience and on internal time, which allow the other to become absolutely Other. The relationship with the Other opens up in a modality of responsibility towards a person who cannot be enclosed but is poured out to the infinite, in an exteriority that goes beyond objectivity. In "Totality and Infinite", Lévinas points out the possibility of breaking the spell generated when one tries to possess the other, a totality where subjectivity and infinitude run aground, leaving the subject as a prisoner of him or herself.
