Abstract

ERAZO CAICEDO, Edgar Diego  and  MUNOZ, Germán. Technological mediatons in the process of youth subectivity: Interactions in Pereira and Dosquebradas, Colombia. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2007, vol.5, n.2, pp.723-754. ISSN 1692-715X.

This paper gives an account of a research project carried out in Pereira and Dosquebradas Risaralda, . The project was a phenomenological research effort that adopted the Latin-American perspective on Cultural Studies. The study sought to understand the relationship between technological mediations and the processes of configuration of youth subjectivity (subjectivations). The category of «techno-youthful subjectivations» was proposed, in order to show the close relationship detected between these phenomena. That is to say, young peopole have a great need to interact daily with technology, and the mediators behind it need to interact with the contributions of young people so as to maintain a permanent transformation of those discursive and non-discursive practices (power practices). These processes of subjectivation are transforming rapidly, and are producing new types of communication and new life styles among youths, marked by a feeling of power over the self, characterized, among other markers, in a feeling of power over their own life trajectories, which finds expression in favorable expectations for the self, both for the present and for the future.

Keywords : Processes of subjectivation; Youthful subjectivity; Technological mediations; Techno-youthful subjectivations; Cognitive ecologies; Virtual sisterhood/brotherhood; Youths' cultural agency; Colombia.
