PEDRAZA AVELLA, Aura Cecilia. Youth labor market in Colombia: present realities and political solutions. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2008, vol.6, n.2, pp.853-884. ISSN 1692-715X.
This paper examines the Colombian youth labor market and related policies. In general, the 2001-2005 period shows negative conditions for this segment of the labor market. Adolescents and young adults find worse labor conditions than the economically active population over 26 years of age. In answer to this situation, youth policies in the country have developed specific employment norms; there are also pasive and active employment policies for young men and women. The coexistence of policies intended to foster the youth labor market and their negative results in the last few years lead to the conclusion that it is necessary to reassess or to reinvent legislation and related policies of youth labor market in Colombia. Some recommendations are proposed.
