Abstract

KOHLER GONZALES, Zuleika  and  DE FATIMA GUARESCHI, Neuza Maria. The social protagonism and the government of youth. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2009, vol.7, n.1, pp.37-57. ISSN 1692-715X.

In this article, we have attempted to problematize the notion of youth protagonism presented in the National Youth Plan, an official document written in the form of a State Draft Law. This notion emerges as an effect of discourses inscribed in types of knowledge that both describe and conceive the youth category and support policies, actions, and programs directed to the young population. In this study, these discourses are seen as intended to produce a certain young person that is "protagonist and inserted in social processes", something that can become a "problem" or even escape from a form of subjectivation that has been hegemonic in contemporaneity. We have used Foucault's notion of governamentality to discuss issues related to "youth protagonism".

Keywords : youth protagonism; social policies; governamentality; process of subjectivation.
