Abstract
GOMEZ ESTEBAN, Jairo Hernando. Romanticism a foundational myth of youth. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2009, vol.7, n.1, pp.59-81. ISSN 1692-715X.
This essay aims at contributing to configure and define the conceptual "corpus" about youth from a historical perspective, taking romanticism as a fundamental myth of youth, what means, as the estheticpolitical movement that has been introduced into and has stayed, not only in the imagination and rituals, but in the political and cultural practices of the young people in the last two centuries. The hypothesis I wish to demonstrate is that the sources of several ethical-esthetic ways of expression and politics of contemporary subjectivity embedded in youth, are found not only in romanticism, but also that they keep on expressing themselves with all of their force and fullness.
Keywords : Romanticism; Youth; subjectivity; emotivism; myth; individuation.
