My proposal in this article is to trace some lines of analysis on the historical, social and cultural construction of the category "youth" in the Argentinean society. To achieve this goal, first, I will establish the theoretical basis on which the analysis will be developed and then, I will briefly review the conditions of the emergence of "youth" in western societies. In a third stage, after the theoretical development and analysis described above, I will review a variety of local historical research papers in order to establish an approximation of the construction process within the category "youth" in Argentina. I will especially focus on two cultural images of "youth": the "minors subjects" and the "consumers subjects".
