Abstract

BERNAL RAMIREZ, Gloria Esperanza. Grammar Teaching in Colombia: results of school notebook analysis. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2010, vol.8, n.1, pp. 509-534. ISSN 1692-715X.

In this article I present the qualitative results and conceptual clarifications about teaching practices that are displayed in Spanish primary course notebooks of third and fifth grades from Colombia. Their analysis define a set of grammar-related categories, curriculum-associated topics and stands regarding the purposes of teaching grammar as evidenced both in the didactic development and in the teaching resources background. I identify tensions arisen between social representations of grammar and its trivialization in school contexts, and between national policies on language teaching and the type of didactic transposition developed in the practices throughout the notebooks.

Keywords : grammar; teaching; didactic transposition; basic education; school notebooks.
