Abstract

BUITRAGO, Sandra Hibeth; RAMIREZ, José Fernando  and  RIOS, Jhon Fredy. Linguistic interference in the simultaneous learning of several foreign languages. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2011, vol.9, n.2, pp.721-737. ISSN 1692-715X.

Foreign languages teachers at University de Caldas have observed that the students, who are learning more than two foreign languages simultaneously, mix words and expressions of the different languages they are learning while using one of them. In these terms, this study analyzes the phenomenon as a linguistic interference, based on authentic texts written by 20 students who belong to the Modern Languages Program at the same University.

Keywords : students; linguistic interference; foreign languages (L2, L3, L4); mother tongue (L1); simultaneity; discourse action; immediate constituent; semical and lexemical units; pragmatic analysis; transference events.
