Abstract

TELLES MARQUES, Fernanda. Intolerance and in[ter]ventions: "underage" and "children" in brazilian social imaginary. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2011, vol.9, n.2, pp.797-809. ISSN 1692-715X.

Prepared from an interdisciplinary perspective, the article proposes a theoretical discussion of a daily and re-signified appropriation of legal category underage in Brazilian society. For that, it begins with an analysis of two social-historical processes which are opposites and complementary, the invention/valuation of the "ideal childhood" and the intervention/devaluation of the underage, conceived as "troubled childhood". In the following item the problematization is done, historically contextualized, of the political activities of support services to underage and their impacts on the social imaginary. At the end, we seek on psychoanalytic theory timely elements for the reflection on the resistance to adopt the terms child/adolescent when it was assigned to the subjects certain social stigmas, revealing, therefore, a "culture of violence" which justifies the denial of alterity of whom are not among the beneficiaries of the system.

Keywords : Underage.; Institutionalization; Violence; Alterity; Social Imaginary.
