PATINO-GIRALDO, Luz Elena. The process of conceptualization of spatial notions in deaf children. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2011, vol.9, n.2, pp.885-897. ISSN 1692-715X.
This paper summarizes research results regarding levels of conceptualization reached by two groups of deaf children and youths, users of the Colombian Sign Language, in a colombian intermediate city, about a few spatial notions related to Social Studies. The research was based on the recognition of the local Sign Language as the natural language of deaf people, but it is necessary to clarify that the participants in the research study were influenced by oralist education. The methodological strategy of this study can be described as exploratory and polycyclic, with both qualitative and quantitative aspects in continuous phases where results modified the research problem.
