Abstract

ACOSTA-SILVA, David Arturo  and  MUNOZ, Germán. Digital youth: Review of some negative staments on the relationship between young people and new technologies. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2012, vol.10, n.1, pp.107-130. ISSN 1692-715X.

In this paper we present some results from a small scale exploratory study conducted with a group of 82 young people in Bogotá, Colombia. This had the fundamental assumption that many assertions commonly made about the interactions between young people and technology are based more in hyperboles than on real factual support -applicable to Colombian youths. Consequently, we chose five common themes around which such assertions are made, and their accuracy in the sample was examined. The results suggest that more research is required in order to support what is stated -as not all correspond to reality, either by excess, default or lack of information.

Keywords : technology; youth; interaction; cyber cultural studies.
