Abstract

GONZALEZ AGUIRRE, J. Igor Israel. (De) constructing the public sphere: Youth and (the other) political culture. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2012, vol.10, n.1, pp.147-157. ISSN 1692-715X.

Being young today constitutes an area of undecidability. This situates the construction of identity projects directly in the center of the political field. The analysis of this subject requires taking into account several questions; some of them guide this paper: How it is discursively constructed the relationship between youth and the public sphere in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico? Which are some of the cultural images that give visibility to young people in that area and how do they work as control mechanisms instituted by the State? What tactics are deployed by the young "tapatíos" (natives from Guadalajara) to deal with the aforementioned?.

Keywords : youth; political culture; subjectivity; social construction of public realm.
