Abstract

ACEVEDO, Victoria Eugenia  and  RESTREPO, Lucía. On teachers, families and students: strenghtening resilience at school. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2012, vol.10, n.1, pp.301-319. ISSN 1692-715X.

This qualitative study describes the experience of working with nineteen teachers from the "Programa de aceleración del aprendizaje" ("speeding up learning program") sponsored by Fundación Corficolombiana in Cali, Colombia. These teachers were familiarized, from February to June, 2010, with the resilience research/practice, and translated these ideas into practice in their classrooms and in their interactions with family members, through a series of six 6 workshops. They also participated in focal group experiences to reflect about working with other teachers promoting resilience in educational contexts. Identifying and promoting teachers' resilience seemed essential to foster resilience in students and families in school contexts. Recommendations for future interventions and research are provided.

Keywords : Educational resilience; teachers and school resilience; fostering resilience in families; resilient students.
