Abstract: Any kind of violence within a context affects co-existence and learning conditions; nonetheless, the emergence of any threat or insecurity cannot always be labelled as "school violence". This reality becomes much more complex and relevant due to the loss of mutual trust between the educational institution and the family. Violence and insecurity mean these two institutions are no longer referential, symbolic and disciplinary agents. When this occurs, both youths and adolescents break their fragile connections with school, becoming hidden beings, only visible within scenes of violence highlighted in the mass media. Meanwhile, schools keep working in isolation, shaping institutional-isms which are centred on techno-bureaucratic demands and incapable of critical analysis of different situations of violence nor new means of facing them.
