Abstract: This article analyzes the relationships between psychological and social anomie, alienation, trust in institutions and antisocial behavior with a sample of teenage offenders in Mexico. A battery of five instruments and socio-demographic questions were applied to 126 male teenager offenders who are incarcerated in 'The Institute of Treatment and Application of Measures for Teenagers' in Sonora. The results show that the interaction between social alienation and anomie were significant and thus explain 23% of the variance of the criminal and anti-social behavior in juvenile offenders. In addition, discriminant analysis demonstrates the fact that both variables distinguish groups of criminals and offenders. This study indicates that intervention programs should consider mechanisms that impact the micro-environment of the offender, particularly if institutions are interested in re-integrating teenage offenders into society.
