Abstract (analytical): The present article aims at analyzing and comparing the research results about the situation of the young people affected by inequality contexts and processes of educational and labor inequality in Latin America and The Caribbean, taking the impact of the public policies newly implemented to strengthen cohesion and the processes of social inclusion as reference. The methodology refers to the interpretation, synthesis and comparison of qualitative and quantitative studies carried out in connection with the impact attained by programs and policies of a vast scopeaimed at promoting the participation of the young in the educational system and the transition toward the labor market and adult life. The most significant conclusions of the present reflection demonstrate that, in spite of the progress made when it comes to the subject of recognizing plurality and the complexity inherent to the socioeconomic situations of life, cultural background, gender and the geographic dimension of habitat, the way in which young social actors are thought of and supported in the different strategic areas of developmentcontinues to be unsatisfactory. In consequence, a greater empowering involvement of the young when it comes to designing and implementing political strategies in practice could optimize quality and impact of the undertakings and actions carried out.
