Abstract
ALVAREZ-RAMIREZ, Leonardo Yovany. Scale of attitudes towards politics among adult population in the City of Bucaramanga, Colombia. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2014, vol.12, n.1, pp.291-308. ISSN 1692-715X. https://doi.org/10.11600/1692715x.12117101613.
The objective of this correlational-transversal study was to validate a scale of attitudes towards politics in a non-probabilistic sample of 1476 adult subjects from the city of Bucaramanga, Colombia. I used the factorial analysis of 38 items from the attitudes questionnaire regarding political issues and opinions, and 21 original ones, generating ten factors. Factorial consistency was adequate (0.85 ≤ α ≥ 0.74), and so was test retest stability (ρxx’=0.86). The criterion validity with Inglehart’s scale was 0.84. Gender and political orientation showed differences (t values obtained: t=5.379 and t=6.421 and expected t =3.291 with gl=1474 and bilateral Sig. 0.001). Correlations with age and socio-economic strata were very weak (Sig.0.01; r=0.073 and r= 0.064).
Keywords : attitude; politics.
