Abstract

VALENCIA-SUESCUN, María Isabel; RAMIREZ, Mónica; FAJARDO, María Alejandra  and  OSPINA-ALVARADO, María Camila. From negative impacts to new possibilities: children in the Colombian armed conflict. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.2, pp.1037-1050. ISSN 1692-715X.  https://doi.org/10.11600/1692715x.13234251114.

This article presents the preliminary results of a research project obtained through the validation of an instrument, a process carried out with children and young people living in the Benposta care home in the city of Bogotá (through the use of creative workshops and semi-structured interviews). The article presents the results obtained in the production of a literature review on childhood and armed conflict, specifically in the areas of rights such as health and nutrition, education, play and leisure. It evidences violations of the right to protection (due to homicides, forced recruitment and displacement) and participation. The study analyses the impact of these violations on the process of constructing subjectivities and addresses potential and capacities for action that are revealed in these contexts and in the political socialization processes in which children are involved.

Keywords : childhood; socialization; rights of the child; peace-building.
