Abstract
ANDREUCCI-ANNUNZIATA, Paola and CURICHE, Alexis. Academic tutoring: Challenges of a pilot program between peers in a non-selective university. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2017, vol.15, n.1, pp.357-371. ISSN 1692-715X. https://doi.org/10.11600/1692715x.1512229042016.
This article highlights the challenges and possibilities of a peer- tutoring pilot program in the context of an open access and non-selective university. The authors describe the basic elements of the program, the phases for the recruitment and selection of tutors, the training process provided to tutors, the tutoring program that is differentiated depending on the needs of participants - including literacy, logical reasoning and mathematics. The article also describes the implementation of the program and the effectiveness of the results obtained by the students. The study addresses the demand for academic support among students and the changes in pass rates after the program was implemented. The results of the pilot scheme are discussed by the authors and certain challenges regarding the program's coverage are noted. These specifically include the importance of strategies to maintain motivation and commitment among students achieved through accompaniment, as well as a focus on "inter-communities" as a paradigmatic crystallization of the cross-cutting, competency-based, incremental and dialogue-focused perspective used in the proposal for the pilot program.
