FORERO, Ingrid; SIABATO, Elsa and SALAMANCA, Yenny. Suicidal ideation, family functioning and alcohol consumption among Colombian adolescents. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2017, vol.15, n.1, pp.431-442. ISSN 1692-715X. https://doi.org/10.11600/1692715x.1512729042016.
This article describes a non-experimental descriptive study with the objective of analyzing the relationship between suicidal ideation, family functioning and consumption of alcohol among 289 adolescents (126 men and 163 women) who are students from public schools in Tunja-Colombia aged between 13 and 17 years. The authors carried out this analysis using the following tools: Inventory of Positive and Negative Suicidal Ideation (Pansi), the family Apgar questionnaire and the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (Audit). The results indicate that 30 % of participants reported a high level of suicidal ideation, 67% reported that their family functions well and 84 % demonstrated low-risk alcohol consumption. The study identified a strong relationship between suicidal ideation and serious family dysfunction.
