PEDROSO BASTOS, Kárita Rachel  and  FORTUNATO COSTA, Liana. Characterization of victims and types of sexual violence committed by adolescents. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2021, vol.19, n.2, pp.50-73.  Epub Sep 14, 2021. ISSN 1692-715X.  https://doi.org/10.11600/rlcsnj.19.2.4399.

Sexual violence is a multifaceted public health problem that is increasingly committed by adolescents. This article analyzes the primary characteristics of victims and contexts of sexual violence committed by adolescents in a region of Brazil. Documentary research was carried out that analyzed 254 legal cases that had a total of 291 victims. Using descriptive statistics, it was identified that the victims of adolescent sexual offenders were predominantly female aged between 10 and 14 years old, who lived with the offender and the offense generally occurred inside the home of the victim or the offender. Knowledge of these characteristics contributes to the planning of preventive interventions. The application of public policies and the involvement of families in interventions and treatment for victims are essential to address this issue.
