Abstract

YEPES-CARDONA, Susana  and  GIRALDO-GIL, Elida. School narratives of students displaced by the armed conflict in Colombia. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2023, vol.21, n.2, pp.151-175.  Epub Oct 11, 2023. ISSN 1692-715X.  https://doi.org/10.11600/rlcsnj.21.2.5414.

Forced displacement in Colombia has been a complex reality that has led to the systematic violation of the rights of children and adolescents. This is a qualitative study that analyzed the curriculum in school in Medellin (Colombia) through the narratives constructed with 14 female students displaced by the armed conflict. Semi-structured interviews, personal diaries and photographs were used to gather data. The intersections established with the school as a scenario of and for peace building are presented and the relevance of flexible educational proposals is highlighted. This analysis, carried out using a gender perspective, highlights other modes of existence in the school and also contributes to the re-definition of the school curriculum as a determinant in the permanence of displaced students.

Keywords : Displacement; school; armed conflict; experience; girls; teenagers.
