Abstract

The objective was apply a didactic methodology, directed to physical therapy students from Universidad del Rosario, Colombia, in the promotion and prevention practice. The purpose is to enhance the students actions in community health education. Methodology: The project included three phases: the theoretical review of the professor's competitions in the practice and of the methods employed to develop promotion and prevention actions in community work; the development of a methodology and its application to the students, and finally the evaluation and analysis of the information. Results: When compared with other teaching experiences, the didactic methodology proved better than other methodologies to develop competences in students working with population groups. Conclusions: The application of a didactic method in practices favors the student acquisition of pedagogical tools and improves its performance in the development of the programmed activities.
