Abstract

OCAMPO PLAZAS, Mary Luz  and  CORREA BAUTISTA, Jorge Enrique. Institutional actors’ conceptions about physical activity in education. Rev. Cienc. Salud [online]. 2009, vol.7, n.3, pp.77-86. ISSN 1692-7273.

Objective: To describe the concepts and actions that have and do local institutional actors in the educational environment to promote physical activity. Methodology: This is a descriptive qualitative study, involving 9 subjects between directors and coordinators of programs related to physical activity promotion in the Bogotá city. Information was collected through semistructured interviews. Inquiring about their concept of physical activity and the actions being undertaken around the promotion of physical activity. Results. The analysis allowed to highlight that there is no unified concept about physical activity, there are concepts from the biological and others give it a social component. Additionally, the actions developed to promote physical activity initiatives respond to a particular sector, there is neither intersectoral articulation nor a specific policy, more specific initiatives without necessarily point to a particular objective or goal in the long term. Conclusions: In general there is no unified concept about physical activity nor crosscutting strategies for their promotion. Were identified which cause actions desarticulated efforts have no impact would be achieved if they promote cross-sectoral strategies.
