Abstract

RUIZ-OSPINA, Edicson et al. Application of Functional Scales in Patients with Duchenne Muscular Dystroph. Rev. Cienc. Salud [online]. 2025, vol.23, n.spe, e23e2.  Epub June 23, 2025. ISSN 1692-7273.  https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/revsalud/a.13771.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a disease associated with progressive muscle weakness and functional decline. Clinical management, initiation of treatment, and follow-up of patients depend on their functional status and the impact of the disease on quality of life. Functional scales are standardized and validated measurement tools that allow monitoring of disease progression, characterization of the patients' phenotype, prediction of functional loss, and evaluation of the impact of interventions. This article describes the functional scales that, according to the available evidence, can be used in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Keywords : Duchenne muscular dystrophy; scales; functional status.
