This article shows the relationship between the Poisson distribution and the Gamma distribution, in a concise and elementary way. It starts by reviewing the aspects and/or basic properties of each distribution. This includes demonstrations respective probability function and density function, besides the pertinent formulas expectation and variance, together with demonstrations of each of these. It exhibits some properties to be considered for each distribution, and presents the relationship between the latter. It also proposes some examples that illustrate the use of each distribution and its relationship mentioned.
