Abstract

ALBIS A, Alberto; CAJAR R, Laura V  and  DOMINGUEZ L, Miguel I. Sorption kinetic analysis of Cr (VI) in aqueous solutions at concentrations of 10-20 mg/L using bitter cassava peel (Manihot esculenta). Prospect. [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.2, pp.64-71. ISSN 1692-8261.  https://doi.org/10.15665/rp.v13i2.488.

This document shows a kinetic sorption study of hexavalent chromium Cr (VI) in aqueous solutions for a range of initial concentrations of 10-20 mg/L using bitter cassava peel (Manihot esculenta) as adsorbent material. To this end, experimental tests which allowed identifying the amount of Cr (VI) adsorbed on the lignocellulosic material in established time intervals were performed. The kinetic study performed to understand the mechanism of the adsorption process and the kinetics of the adsorption of Cr (VI). The best fitting was presented by the pseudo second order kinetic model.

Keywords : Adsorption; Hexavalent chromium Cr (VI); Cassava pee; Adsorption kinetics; Kinetic models.
