Climatic variables were involved in the water balance of the basin of the creek Aguas Blancas, located in the rural area of the municipality of Montería, Córdoba, in order to plan for sustainability of water resources meet the needs of demand evaluated people of influence. Historical records seven meteorological stations located spatially around the basin, a statistical and probabilistic analysis of the precipitation was performed to quantify the water supply in the area and contrast it with the demand required for domestic consumption.
The research focused on developing a methodology for rural areas with difficulty of availability of water resources, using tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and simulation software to generate the monthly runoff from rainfall data. The results obtained for the broken Aguas Blancas, indicate that it is possible to solve the problem of storing water runoff during the rainy season, in small reservoirs and then use during periods of drought.
