POLO-HERNANDEZ, Andrés; PUELLO-POLO, Esneyder  e  DIAZ-URIBE, Carlos. Influence of Ce in the thiophene hydrodesulfurization using catalytic precursor of alumina supported Anderson-type nickel heteropolyoxomolybdates. Prospect. [online]. 2017, vol.15, n.1, pp.74-82. ISSN 1692-8261.  https://doi.org/10.15665/rp.v15i1.755.

The effect of the support modified with cerium in alumina supported Anderson type NiMo catalytic precursors on thiophene hydrodesulfurization (HDS) was investigated. The solids were characterized by surface area (SBET), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The support catalytic modified with cerium by one-pot and impregnation methods were impregnated with an aqueous solution of nickel Anderson type heteropolyoxomolybdate. The presence of (NH4)4[NiMo6O24H6]•5H2O and alumina gibbsite or gamma phases was verified by XRD, whereas FTIR analysis could be assigned to the characteristic vibrations of Anderson-type structure due to stretching and bending of the functional groups present. The γ-Al2O3, γ-Al2O3-Ce and Ce/γ-Al2O3 supports showed higher values of surface area (149-66 m2/g) than the NiMo6/γ-AL2O3, NiMo6/γ-Al2O3-Ce and NiMo6-Ce/γ-Al2O3 catalytic precursors (76-36 m2/g). The catalysts derived from cerium-modified alumina showed higher HDS activity than those obtained from unmodified alumina, which was associated with the formation of the largest number of active sites.
