ALVAREZ-GIL, Laura; GUERRA-SANDOVAL, Jennifer  e  ROJAS-REYES, Néstor. Factorial design 2 k applied to the reological characterization of kaolin suspensions. Prospect. [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.1, pp.18-25. ISSN 1692-8261.  https://doi.org/10.15665/rp.v16i1.1115.

The rheological behavior of mineral suspensions is a very important factor in the quality control, preparation, packaging and storage phases of their products. The present study is based on the effect of variables inherent to the processing of kaolin suspensions on viscosity, making use of a design of 2k factorial experiments. Specifically, the solids content (Cv), the particle size distribution (DTP) and the acidic nature of the suspension were evaluated, either by working with natural pH (acid) or neutralizing by adding sodium hydroxide (NaOH). In addition, the mathematical model coded for the levels evaluated from the statistical analysis was adjusted appropriately to the validation tests performed later, as it showed a percentage of error lower than 17% in all cases analyzed.
