To evaluate the potential for tourism in the beaches of the Departamento del Atlántico ther were used two methodologies: one that proposes Reyes and Sanchez (2005) and one recommended by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism (2010), Anally allowing pose a potential index Resort to the beaches in Colombia, considering both methodology used and which defined three components to evaluate variables and fourteen tourist potential from the environmental. The application of this index fearlessness that of the 15 beaches tested, 2 beaches were low tourist potential, 9 medium and 4 medium high. This index is proposed as a tool to assess the tourism potential of the beaches in Colombia, with the purpose of providing management tools based on the use of indicators to the public and private administrations concerning the integrated management of the beaches and tourist development department.
