Abstract

This research analyzes the effects of the underlying variables of an economic crisis situation on the stress of sales staff; specific on the case of Spain is examined. A survey was performed between 150 sellers in Valencia (Spain), in order to examine seller`s stress and its relationship with other variables that come due to the crisis. The results indicate that the perception of an unstable environment and offers few job opportunities exerts an influence on the stress of the sales staff. Moreover, currently in Spain, numerous hired sellers feel low job identification, since many of them have been educated in different areas and have low experience, what causes as well higher levels of stress. Based on the results, some management guidelines related to the topic of analysis are given.
