Abstract

This research aims to indicate the need to implement a gender perspective within the prison system. This is because there are serious violations of the human rights of women deprived of liberty, justified not only in reason of their legal status, but also by their condition. Considering this, issues concerning the implementation of a gender perspective within the prison treatment exerted on private female population of liberty in Cuba are raised, the above in order to derive strategies for real rights in compliance with conditions equality. In this regard, three lines of argument are raised, the first relates to the conceptualization of gender, which has led to the award of own behaviors both men and women at the expense of true equality of rights; The second axis is related to the characterization of the prison system in Cuba; finally, there is an observation about characterization of the gender perspective in both: national and foreign penitential laws
