Newspapers have been determinant of political behavior of citizens. In particular, both liberal and conservative press have taken a position diffusing his ideas throughout the history of Colombia. This work deepens the exclusion, discrimination and even incitement to violence that took place the press, during the Liberal Republic (1930-1946) in Santander, abusing its power through language influenced the political future both the region and the country. This article aims to analyze the role of the newspaper The Duty to political violence that was staged in different parts of the country in the first half of the twentieth century. From here, it is inferred the background of the situation of violence and parties' division which was intensified from 1948.
