Abstract

FABRIZIO PINEDA, Adrián. THE PAINTING, THE FACTORY, AND THE HOSPITAL: THE PRODUCTION OF SPACE IN THE CLASSIC EPOCH. Eidos [online]. 2008, n.8, pp.104-135. ISSN 1692-8857.

The text raises a reading of the work of Michel Foucault work according to which in the classical epoch -17th and 18th centuries- a conception of the space is built, which is correlative to the discursive practices that characterize the "episteme of the representation". This conception links the aesthetic, social and epistemic fields through the idea of the space as a 'field of visibility' whose rules of constitution communicate a sort of pictorial representation, a model of distribution of the populations and a form of speech on the disease. Since these rules are realized through concrete devices of production of knowing and relations of power, in their description I hope realize the historic and epistemic limits of the classic epoch.

Keywords : Space; production; representation; perspective; clinic.
