Abstract

PAJARO M., Carlos Julio. De Platón para los poetas: crítica, censura y destierro. Eidos [online]. 2014, n.20, pp.109-144. ISSN 1692-8857.

Abstract Despite the fact that one of the objectives of the platonic approach in Republic about guardians' character education is to criticize, censure, and exile the poets and the mimetic poetry as a "pedagogic resource" due to their uselessness as a source of knowledge. Plato admits the introduction of certain kind of poetry in his educational program. It is not then appropriate to apply a thesis that is exclusive of the X book to all platonic thought since Plato himself recognizes a modality of mimesis which survives to censure.

Keywords : Platon; Republic; poetry; mímesis; criticism; censorship; exile.
