Abstract

MEJIA, Edilberto et al. TRANSDUCER DEVICE FOR MEASURING FORCE AND SPEED IN A TASK OF SCALPEL CUTTING. Rev.EIA.Esc.Ing.Antioq [online]. 2010, n.14, pp. 147-160. ISSN 1794-1237.

This paper shows the design and manufacture of a mechatronic device, capable of measuring force and speed in a cutting work done with a scalpel. A study based on the finite element method was made, in order to record the force required to break the tissue (chicken breast) having a theoretical framework as the benchmark of the results obtained in the cutting tests. It was used, as the primary measuring device, a sensor type Flexiforce A201-25. The device was attached, as a working tool, to an industrial robotic arm programmed with a crosssection routine. The cutting speed of the implemented device was sensed through a camera by tracking a marker set previously for this purpose, software in C # programming language was developed. All tests were performed on the same tissue and with the same routine to perform a measurement of cutting repeatability. The results were recorded in tables, for purposes of statistical analysis, and graphical representation.
