Abstract

LOBOA, Julián; RAMIREZ, Sara  and  DIAZ, Jaime E.. EVALUATION OF THE UNIFORMITY COEFFICIENT IN FOUR IRRIGATION EMITTERS USING UPFLOW COARSE FILTRATION IN LAYERS. Rev.EIA.Esc.Ing.Antioq [online]. 2011, n.16, pp.29-41. ISSN 1794-1237.

Unconventional filtration technologies based on the upward flow of water through filters with layers of materials with different grain sizes are used to evaluate the coefficients of uniformity in four irrigation modules of high frequency in water treatment plant at the Research Institute Cinara in Cali. Each module uses different irrigation emitters: Microjet, built-loaded (Aqua-Traxx), Lyn, and irrigation tape (Queen Gil). Under this system of filtration is obtained that the irrigation emitters that achieve the best data of the coefficients of uniformity were Microjet (94.3%) and Lyn (93.73%), taking account a period between over 120 to 165 hours respectively. In a time of 72 hours of continuous irrigation, the system that showed a more homogenous uniformity coefficient was the module with the Lyn emitters which reached the values of 91.5 (rated good) and the lowest performance was the module with the irrigation tape.

Keywords : drip irrigation; upward thick-layered filter.
