SOLANO-PAYARES, Cristian José; GARCIA-BARRIOS, David Andrés; MENDOZA-MENDOZA, Adel Alfonso  y  PALENCIA-CASTRO, Daniel Andrés. Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Models: Research Synthesis 2012-2017. Rev.EIA.Esc.Ing.Antioq [online]. 2020, vol.17, n.34, pp.191-211.  Epub 04-Sep-2021. ISSN 1794-1237.  https://doi.org/10.24050/reia.v17i34.1358.

This paper presents a synthesis of scientific publications on the design of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) models between 2012 and 2017. For this, the methodological procedure proposed by Cooper, Hedges and Valentine was used, which involved a series of steps of collection, analysis and interpretation of the information with the task of producing a complete description of the cumulative state of research on this topic. In addition to a characterization of the publications, the main results of this study consist of the consolidation of a set of criteria and guidelines for the development of these models. These guidelines were linked to short, medium and long-term objectives that involve different prioritization focuses and barriers to be considered in the designs. Finally, this synthesis reveals that these types of models continue to be a topic of interest in research concerning inventory management and collaborative models, offering reliable information that functions as a starting point for consultation and model formulation for future researchers in this field.
