Abstract

VARGAS, Sebastián. Skinheads and history. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2010, n.12, pp.137-157. ISSN 1794-2489.

This paper was inspired by the interest to explore the ways how common people - outside academia- perceive and re-appropriate history. In particular, readings and uses of history among two groups from the city of Bogotá -Naziskins y RASH- are studied. This paper is organized in four sections: first, I will present the problem, along with some brief theoretical and methodological considerations. Then, a section will be devoted to one of the two mentioned groups. There, I'll discuss their more significant historical re-appropriations. Ultimately, this paper closes with several conclusions reflecting the research implications, results and constraints.

Keywords : youth culture; collective memory; historical re-appropriation; skinheads.
