Abstract

FERNANDEZ MOUJAN, Inés. Freire's Writing Strokes. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2011, n.14, pp.11-28. ISSN 1794-2489.

Tracing Paulo Freire's intellectual biography has as its main goal to display some of the central lines of discussion the Latin American pedagogue posits around his ethicalpolitical notion of education. In this paper, I address a critical analysis of Freire's writing so that he is shown as a critical intellectual, committedly carrying the voice of subalternized social groups. This reading is closely related to his discourse, with his eminently subjective narrative, while it is committed to his time and the others. I suggest we may consider Freire's writing as revealing this operation -the autobiographical tied to his responsiveness to the other, which endows his narrative with a testimonial value.

Keywords : Freire; intellectual; dialogue; pedagogy; freedom.
