Abstract

AXEL, Rojas. Anthropology and cultural studies in colombia. Emergencies, emplacements, challenges. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2011, n.15, pp.69-93. ISSN 1794-2489.

This paper aims to sketch a map on the origins and localization processes undergone by anthropology and cultural studies in Colombia. To accomplish this, I will refer to their respective historical contexts of emergence, whose particularities and differences are found relevant to understand both projects' objects of study, and political, theoretical and methodological choices. I will tell how, along their particular trajectories, these projects have achieved different levels of institutionalization, establishment of academic communities, consolidation of corpora and scholarly recognition on the local and global levels. Rather than identifying its «true» or ultimate meaning, these trajectories aim to think the meaning of these intellectual projects and to map possible paths beginning by asking for their meaning at present.

Keywords : Anthropology; cultural studies.
