Abstract

SOTO MORERA, Diego A. (De)colonial symptoms: Grosfoguel as a reader to Foucault. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2013, n.19, pp.59-77. ISSN 1794-2489.

Abstract This paper analyses the critique ramón grosfoguel does to the approach advanced by Michel Foucault to the notions of racism and colonialism in his course Defending Society (1975-1976). The author analyses the theoretical assumptions and the methodological criteria supporting grosfoguel's hermeneutics, based on a number of assumptions from Michel Foucault's power and governmentality genealogy. The author suggests this exercise helps establish the place Michel Foucault gives to colonial devices in shaping modern governmental technologies.

Keywords : genealogy; power; colonial technologies; racism; governmentality.
