Abstract

SORIA, Sofía. The "Dark Side" of the Interculturality-Decoloniality Project -Some Critique Notes for a Discussion: notas para uma discussão. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2014, n.20, pp.41-64. ISSN 1794-2489.

This paper intends to establish a critical dialogue with Catherine Walsh's proposal for interculturality-decoloniality, which was developed within the framework of the modernity/coloniality project. Taking as the object of analysis and discussion the main arguments this author provides in situations of inequality in the americas, their most fertile aspects are exhibited, along with theoretical-political issues. Such issues stem from the diagnosis on relationships of inequality and from the political project being posed to overcome them. Therefore, despite the efforts to dismantle Western-modern epistemological and political matrixes, Walsh's approach ends up admitting one of the metaphysical typical assumptions it intends to avoid -alterity as a locus of truth.

Keywords : Catherine Walsh; interculturality; decoloniality; alterity.
