PITA PICO, Roger. Restraints and Prejudices Revolving Around Affective and Family Relationships among the Enslaved Community during Independence in Colombia. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2014, n.20, pp.307-325. ISSN 1794-2489.

This paper addresses the complex affective lives of enslaved population during the process of independence in Colombia. generally speaking, many restraints imposed during the colony continued to be in force, both in family ties among slaves and in affective relationships forged with white individuals. At the end of the day, scant were advances in this field due to the position masters took to defend the slaveholding system and their own interests as slave owners, and the lack of commitment by Spanish and Republican authorities. The economic crisis and the social effects of war would deepen the fragmentation of the enslaved community furthermore.

Palavras-chave : Slaves; families; feelings; independence; Colombia.
