This text reviews gendered relationships displayed in some popular social narratives, reflecting distress, conflict and violence existing in inter-gendered relationships. This is reflected on sayings, popular expressions, jokes and riddles. The diversity and ambivalence of popular culture is seen, as well as the reproduction of cultural roles and emotional relief.
