This paper unfolds in three moments: first, the relationship between research and social work, retakes the outcomes of theoretical reflections resulted from research projects "Social work intervention in the field of political management technologies and population governance". Second stage, 2017, and, A historical approach to the conditions of possibility for professional identity in Social Work in Colombia, Second stage, 2017; the second one reflects upon professional practice. Finally, several proposals are examined on the relationship between theory and practice in Social Work research and intervention.
