Abstract

ROBINSON, CEDRIC J.. Racial Capitalism: The Nonobjetive Character ofCapitalist Development. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2018, n.28, pp.23-56. ISSN 1794-2489.  https://doi.org/10.25058/20112742.n28.2.

"European civilization is not the result of capitalism. On the contrary, the character of capitalism can only be understood in the social and historical context of its emergence". This is one of the breakthroughs in the foundational book Black Marxism. The Making of the Black Radical Tradition. In this fundamental section, Cedric J. Robinson deploys some criticism to the conventional renderings taken from the common pool of Western metaphysics upon which Marxism rests, used to explain the emergence of bourgeoisie. Some of the keys to this new reading of this essential issue in a materialist view of modern history are to be found in a thorough review of particularisms, conflicts and strains existing inside European feudal societies.

Keywords : capitalism; racism; world-system; genealogy.
