Abstract

ANON, Valeria  and  RUFER, Mario. The Colonial as Silence. Conquest as Taboo: Reflections in the Present Tense. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2018, n.29, pp.107-131. ISSN 1794-2489.  https://doi.org/10.25058/20112742.n29.06.

In this text, the authors reflect upon silencing moves around the terms colony/settler colonial/coloniality in Latin America, as well as the ways how historical tense, obliterations, denials, and absence are represented. We will call into question the disciplinary challenge to portray conquest as a trans-historical way of dominance. Also, the uses and boundaries of the notion of coloniality are discussed.

Keywords : temporality; conquistualidad; silencing; postcolonialism.
