An analysis of the converging issues deriving from the theoretical-practical debates raised within the framework of the V International Seminar of Strategic Intelligence and Foresight ("Seminario Internacional de Inteligencia Estratégica y Prospectiva"), aimed at reflecting around some of the implications of the building of peace based on the reinforcement of the Colombian National Police capacities. The study of this information was supported on the triangulation of researches and investigators with academic approaches of local, regional and international nature, for the purpose of invigorating, in an analytical and methodological manner, the institutional routing towards the consolidation of tools favoring peace in the national territory. From an analytical exercise, it was clearly stated that peace building is a process that transcends the end of the armed conflict and demands certain implications for the institution, such as those relating to territorial approach, organizational culture, police service, police education, the police-institutions-community articulation, and the institutional integrity and transparency. In this manner, peace building along with the elimination of all forms of violence are processes born in the conflict and must be maintained over time because they have no expiration date and therefore, for the institution itself, do not constitute an end but a means to attain peace.
